2018 Forum for Research into Ice Shelf Processes (FRISP) workshop (32nd)

FRISP-2018: Important dates (See more information below)

About FRISP

FRISP is a subcommmittee of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) Working Group of Glaciology. For several years the work of the FRISP parties was focused on the Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf (FRIS). But meanwhile the geographical restriction to FRIS was widened up and other ice shelves have been included into the investigations. FRISP started out as an European forum, but now welcomes any scientist working on ice shelves and related issues. FRISP remains a focus on glaciology, but the scope is extended to include continental shelf oceanography, meteorology, and quaternary paleoclimatology to encourage discussion between these disciplines. More info can be found on FRISP website. Workshops are regularly organised, and this year workshop, FRISP-2018, is organised by JB Sallée and N. Jourdain.

Where

The 32nd FRISP workshop (2018) will be held in the French Alps in Aussois at the Paul Langevin center, on 3/4/5/6 September 2018. The center has 105 individual rooms; each participant should stay in an individual room, but if there is need for sharing room, you would be asked and noticed in advance. The closest international airports to reach Aussois are Geneva and Lyon. Buses will be organised from Geneva to Aussois, on the 3rd September in late afternoon; and from Aussois to Geneva on the 6th September, arriving in Geneva in mid-afternoon. Bus ride is about 2 hours. More information on buses will be given at a later stage. Closest train station is Modane but you would then have to organise your own way to the conference center (e.g. with the bus compagny www.altibus.com ). The address of the center is: CAES du CNRS, Centre Paul-Langevin, 73500 Aussois.
